Nothing softens a home office like a painted surface. The Red Boats by Claude Monet arrives as a hand painted oil painting on canvas, offering the landscape detail, soft gradients, and tactile finish that landscape oil painting shoppers look for.
1872
Oil on canvas
Musée de l'Orangerie.
Monet returned to France from London in 1872 and settled in Argenteuil (a town on a picturesque stretch of the Seine, eleven kilometres from central Paris), where he lived until 1876. His contemporaries Pierre-Auguste Renoir, édouard Manet and Alfred Sisley joined him and, for a time, Argenteuil became a hub of artistic activity. It was during this time that Monet created some of his most characteristic paintings. In order to observe the effects of sunlight on water more closely, Monet often worked from a boat-turned-studio. In Argenteuil, the rust-red boats, painted in contrasting colours to the blue water and sky and the green water plants, are depicted surrounded by shimmering light – perhaps the true subject of the painting.
This painting was one of Domenica Walter's last acquisitions (c.1955), reflecting her particular interest in Impressionism.
As office wall decor, the piece pairs naturally with other impressionist wall art and with warm neutrals, timber, and soft natural light.
Materials matter for impressionist wall decor. That is why this piece is built on artist-grade canvas with lightfast oil colors, applied by hand rather than output from a printer, and sealed for long-term display.
Style it over a fireplace, behind a reading chair, or along a staircase. Wherever it goes, this impressionist oil painting wall decor adds the layered color that only a hand painted canvas provides.
Whether the search term is landscape oil painting, office wall decor, or impressionist oil painting wall decor, this hand painted canvas delivers the same thing: a real painted surface, made to your chosen dimensions.
