Upgrade your walls with Ukrainian Landscape at Night - Ivan Aivazovsky - Hand Painted Oil Painting. Every landscape reproduction is painted entirely by hand, so the surface carries the depth and variation of an original oil painting rather than the flatness of a digital canvas print.
1870
Oil on canvas
75 x 92.5 cm (29 1/2 x 36 1/2 in.)
The 1860s and 1870s saw Ivan Aivazovsky turn repeatedly to the theme of the Ukrainian landscape (fig.1). Characterised by the intense lighting of sunset or moonlight, these compositions underline the vast stillness of the surrounding countryside. Unlike the dramatic seascapes for which Aivazovsky is best known, these compositions are more intimate in feel yet still masterful in their execution. They depict unremarkable scenes from everyday life such as ploughing the fields, a farmer returning home in his ox-drawn cart or, as in a more complex, later variant from 1892, the festivities following a Ukrainian wedding.
However, even in his 'dry' landscapes, Aivazovsky was able to evoke a certain marine-like quality: instead of ship's masts rising above the watery horizon, here it is the sails of Ukraine's elegant windmills which tower over the expanse of fields.
Collectors often choose this landscape image when searching for landscape oil painting that feels substantial rather than decorative or disposable.
We use a 100% hand-painted process: stretched artist-grade canvas, layered oil pigment, and a final protective varnish. There are no inkjet prints or mechanical reproductions in this collection — just a painted landscape artwork made to order.
Build a hallway gallery wall around this landscape oil painting, or let it stand alone as a single statement. The hand painted canvas finish keeps the landscape composition looking intentional in both classic and contemporary rooms.
