Oil on canvas
151 x 120 cm
St?del Museum, Inv. Nr. 2151.
The dance scene that Ernst Ludwig Kirchner repeatedly painted played a major role in Expressionist art. The atmosphere in which the dances took place, the unbridled movements of the bodies in sophisticated gowns and evening attire, reflected a passion for life. After World War I, it was the special way of life in the metropolis of Berlin that attracted the Expressionists. Scenes taking place in cafés, images from the variété or cabaret, seedy nightlife, street scenes with prostitutes and other, related subjects, were frequently depicted Expressionist motifs.
Our artists reproduce this figurative composition in oil on canvas by hand, preserving the tonal range that makes portrait oil painting so sought after for a hallway.
Materials matter for expressionist wall decor. That is why this piece is built on artist-grade canvas with lightfast oil colors, applied by hand rather than output from a printer, and sealed for long-term display.
Style it over a fireplace, behind a reading chair, or along a staircase. Wherever it goes, this expressionist oil painting wall decor adds the layered color that only a hand painted canvas provides.
