Oil on canvas
Van Gogh Museum, Amsterdam, Netherlands.
“Ears of Wheat,” created by Vincent van Gogh in 1890 in Auvers-sur-Oise, France, is an oil painting on canvas that belongs to the Post-Impressionism art movement. This landscape artwork displays a detailed and immersive portrayal of a wheat field, capturing the essence of nature’s simplicity and beauty.
The artwork is characterized by intricate brushstrokes that convey the lush and dense texture of the wheat. Vibrant greens blend seamlessly with various shades of golden yellow and brown, illustrating the maturity and richness of the ears of wheat. The undulating lines and movement within the painting evoke a sense of realism and vitality, as if the wheat is swaying gently in a breeze. Van Gogh’s signature emphasis on color and texture is evident, reflecting his intense emotional connection to the natural world. The painting invites viewers to appreciate the delicate details and profound beauty found in an ordinary wheat field.
Our artists reproduce this landscape composition in oil on canvas by hand, preserving the tonal range that makes landscape oil painting so sought after for a hallway.
Materials matter for post-impressionist wall decor. That is why this piece is built on artist-grade canvas with lightfast oil colors, applied by hand rather than output from a printer, and sealed for long-term display.
Style it over a fireplace, behind a reading chair, or along a staircase. Wherever it goes, this post-impressionist oil painting wall decor adds the layered color that only a hand painted canvas provides.
