Wheatfields by Vincent van Gogh is one of those images that never dates. Our studio recreates it as a hand painted oil painting — textured, color-rich, and ready to hang as canvas wall art in a bedroom, study, or reception area.
The Plain of Auvers (Wheat Fields near Auvers), 1890
Oil on canvas
50 cm (19.69 in.) x 101 cm (39.76 in.)
Osterreichische Galerie Belvedere, Vienna, Austria.
The artwork, titled “Wheatfields,” was created by Vincent van Gogh in 1890 in Auvers-sur-Oise, France. Executed in oil on canvas, this landscape painting epitomizes the Post-Impressionism art movement. The dimensions of the artwork are 50 x 101 cm. Currently, it is housed at the Belvedere in Vienna, Austria.
The artwork depicts a richly textured landscape, capturing the serene and expansive wheat fields that stretch out under an overcast sky. Van Gogh’s characteristic brushwork, with its swirling, dynamic strokes, infuses the painting with a sense of movement and vitality. The juxtaposition of green fields, golden wheat, and patches of vibrant red flowers not only highlights the variety in nature but also showcases Van Gogh’s skill in combining color and texture to evoke emotion. In the background, scattered trees punctuate the horizon, adding depth and perspective to the scene. This painting is a quintessential example of Van Gogh’s ability to transform ordinary rural landscapes into works of profound beauty and intensity.
Every hand painted oil painting in this landscape series is finished on artist-grade canvas and checked against the original before it leaves the studio.
From primer to varnish, the work is done manually on artist-grade canvas. The absence of digital printing is deliberate: it keeps the landscape brushwork visible and gives the post-impressionist oil painting wall decor a museum-like finish.
As bedroom wall art, this canvas brings color and texture without visual noise. It scales well from a small study to a large bedroom feature wall, and it is a reliable choice when shopping for landscape oil painting as a gift.
