Field and Ploughman and Mill - Vincent van Gogh - Landscape Oil Painting suits both traditional and modern interiors. As a landscape oil painting, it works as a standalone focal point or as part of an entryway gallery wall, and unlike a print it is genuinely hand painted in oils.
1889
Oil on canvas
Museum of Fine Arts, United States.
Painted in September 1889 in St-Rémy, five months after Van Gogh’s arrival at the asylum. The view is very loosely that from his room, seen through the barred window. The picture was bought by William Boyd, probably in the early 1920s. Boyd ran the Scottish jam company James Keiller & Son, which just over a century earlier had ‘invented’ marmalade. He lived at West Ferry, Dundee, and became an important collector of modern Scottish and French art. In 1936 Field with Ploughman passed through the Arthur Tooth Gallery in London and was bought by William Coolidge, an American who studied in Oxford. Coolidge bequeathed the painting to Boston’s Museum of Fine Arts in 1993.
Our artists reproduce this landscape composition in oil on canvas by hand, preserving the tonal range that makes landscape oil painting so sought after for an entryway.
Materials matter for post-impressionist wall decor. That is why this piece is built on artist-grade canvas with lightfast oil colors, applied by hand rather than output from a printer, and sealed for long-term display.
Style it over a fireplace, behind a reading chair, or along a staircase. Wherever it goes, this post-impressionist oil painting wall decor adds the layered color that only a hand painted canvas provides.
Whether the search term is landscape oil painting, entryway wall decor, or post-impressionist oil painting wall decor, this hand painted canvas delivers the same thing: a real painted surface, made to your chosen dimensions.
