Nothing softens a hallway like a painted surface. Fishing in the Spring, Pont de Clichy by Vincent van Gogh arrives as a hand painted oil painting on canvas, offering the wildlife detail, soft gradients, and tactile finish that wildlife oil painting shoppers look for.
1887
Oil on canvas
Art Institute of Chicago, United States.
The setting of this work is the river Seine at the Clichy Bridge near Asnières, a suburb north of Paris where Vincent van Gogh painted on several occasions with his friend and fellow artist Paul Signac. Van Gogh was inspired by Signac and Georges Seurat, both of whose work is on view nearby. Their technique, called divisionism, used science-based theories of color, which they applied in individual strokes to maximize luminosity. Although Van Gogh was only in Paris working among these artists for about two years, their influence can be seen here in his use of small brushstrokes of pure, brilliant color that combine to create the effect of light reflecting off the various surfaces represented in the composition.
Our artists reproduce this wildlife composition in oil on canvas by hand, preserving the tonal range that makes wildlife oil painting so sought after for a hallway.
This is a genuine hand painted oil painting, not a canvas print. Our painters match the palette of Fishing in the Spring, Pont de Clichy by eye and build up the wildlife forms in thin layers, which is what gives the finished wildlife oil painting its luminosity.
Hang this wildlife oil painting above a sofa, console, or bed to give a hallway an instant focal point. Its post-impressionist palette works with both minimalist and period interiors, and the piece also makes a considered gift for housewarmings, weddings, and art lovers.
In short: Fishing in the Spring, Pont de Clichy - Vincent van Gogh - Oil Painting combines a post-impressionist composition, a 100% hand painted oil painting process, and the flexibility of made-to-order canvas sizes — a dependable choice for wildlife oil painting and hallway wall art.
