For collectors searching fine art oil painting, Old Man in Sorrow (On the Threshold of Eternity) is a dependable choice. Painted in layered oils on canvas after Vincent van Gogh, this post-impressionist work reads equally well as classic canvas wall art and as a thoughtful housewarming gift.

Kroller-Muller Museum, Netherlands.
Early in the year, Vincent had written to his brother Theo, "Let me go quietly on with my work; if it is that of a madman, well, so much the worse, I can't help it." Vincent van Gogh only painted when his condition was stable, and he was well aware that his seizures could return at any time, but he resolved to continue his pursuit of consolation through his art. Old Man in Sorrow (On the Threshold of Eternity) reflects not just van Gogh's condition, but his sense that all humanity lived with uncertainty.
Every hand painted oil painting in this fine art series is finished on artist-grade canvas and checked against the original before it leaves the studio.
Oil on canvas remains the reference standard for post-impressionist reproductions. Our artists apply pigment by hand, blending the fine art tones directly on the surface for depth that a printed fine art oil painting simply cannot match.
post-impressionist canvas wall art is one of the easiest ways to warm a home office. Pair this piece with natural linen, dark wood, or brushed brass, and let the hand painted surface do the rest.
Whether the search term is fine art oil painting, office wall decor, or post-impressionist oil painting wall decor, this hand painted canvas delivers the same thing: a real painted surface, made to your chosen dimensions.
