In his flowering trees, Vincent attained a sense of spontaneity, freeing himself from the strict self-analytical approach he took in Paris. In Pear Tree in Blossom, Vincent used the light, broken strokes of impressionism and the dabs of color of divisionism for a sparkling surface effect.
