From the first sketch to the final varnish, Portrait of Dr. Gachet is made by hand. Based on Vincent van Gogh's original. This post-impressionist oil painting wall decor is crafted on artist-grade canvas for anyone who wants portrait oil painting with the character of an original.

Oil on canvas

Private collection, U.S.A.
Vincent van Gogh painted his Portrait of Dr. Gachet in 1890. Vincent found an empathetic friend in the physician. Their conversations about painting gave Vincent the stimulating company he had lacked since Paul Gauguin's departure. When van Gogh painted Portrait of Dr. Gachet, he posed the physician in a gesture of melancholy contemplation, introspective with "the heartbroken expression of our time."
As entryway wall decor, the piece pairs naturally with other post-impressionist wall art and with warm neutrals, timber, and soft natural light.
Materials matter for post-impressionist wall decor. That is why this piece is built on artist-grade canvas with lightfast oil colors, applied by hand rather than output from a printer, and sealed for long-term display.
Style it over a fireplace, behind a reading chair, or along a staircase. Wherever it goes, this post-impressionist oil painting wall decor adds the layered color that only a hand painted canvas provides.
