Sheaves of Wheat in a Field by Vincent van Gogh is one of those images that never dates. Our studio recreates it as a hand painted oil painting — textured, color-rich, and ready to hang as canvas wall art in a dining room, study, or reception area.
1885
Oil on canvas
Kroller-Muller Museum, Netherlands.
Vincent van Gogh painted Sheaves of Wheat in a Field in 1885. The painting is a prime example of van Gogh’s commitment to painting outside the studio.
Setting up his easel in the fields, van Gogh painted the harvest during his last summer in Nuenen, Netherlands. He depicted the female workers digging and raking, but he also painted the sheaves of wheat, tied into bundles for storage. His dedication to painting outdoors endured because he believed that the natural light on the fields could not be duplicated in the studio.
Every hand painted oil painting in this landscape series is finished on artist-grade canvas and checked against the original before it leaves the studio.
Expect subtle, hand-made variation rather than factory uniformity. Each landscape canvas is painted with oils, allowed to cure properly, and inspected before it is approved for shipment.
Wondering where landscape oil painting looks best? Try a dining room mantel, a dining room sideboard, or a hallway gallery wall. The landscape subject reads clearly from a distance and rewards close viewing up near.
Order Sheaves of Wheat in a Field as a hand painted oil painting on canvas and add lasting post-impressionist character to your dining room. Custom sizes, a digital proof before dispatch, and secure worldwide shipping are included.
