Vase with Zinnias and Other Flowers by Vincent van Gogh is one of those images that never dates. Our studio recreates it as a hand painted oil painting — textured, color-rich, and ready to hang as canvas wall art in an entryway, study, or reception area.
1886
Oil on canvas
49.5 cm (19.49 in.) x 61 cm (24.02 in.)
National Gallery of Canada, Canada.
With its limited palette of white and green, set against a moody background and punctuated only with red, orange, and gold, Still-life: flowers is reminiscent of the subtle floral paintings of Henri Fantin-Latour. But, when describing his series of bouquets, Vincent acknowledged a debt to only one artist—Adolphe Monticelli, who worked in Provence. Vincent admired Monticelli's floral still lifes for their vitality and richness. Their thick impasto inspired Vincent to use his paint freely, building up texture in heavy relief.
Every hand painted oil painting in this still life series is finished on artist-grade canvas and checked against the original before it leaves the studio.
This is a genuine hand painted oil painting, not a canvas print. Our painters match the palette of Vase with Zinnias and Other Flowers by eye and build up the still life forms in thin layers, which is what gives the finished still life oil painting its luminosity.
Hang this still life oil painting above a sofa, console, or bed to give an entryway an instant focal point. Its post-impressionist palette works with both minimalist and period interiors, and the piece also makes a considered gift for housewarmings, weddings, and art lovers.
In short: Vase with Zinnias and Other Flowers - Vincent van Gogh - Post-Impressionist Oil Painting combines a post-impressionist composition, a 100% hand painted oil painting process, and the flexibility of made-to-order canvas sizes — a dependable choice for still life oil painting and entryway wall decor.
