Weaver at the Loom (from Front)
1884
Oil on canvas
70 cm (27.56 in.) x 85 cm (33.46 in.)
Kroller-Muller Museum, Otterlo, Netherlands.
Vincent van Gogh completed Weaver, seen from the Front in 1884. The confining structure of the large loom displays the weaver fully absorbed in his task, reflecting a parallel intensity van Gogh sensed in his own endeavors.
Living in Drenthe, Netherlands, Vincent quickly ran through his limited resources for art supplies. Early in the new year, he moved to Nuenen, where his father had relocated the family to a new parsonage. He sought his subjects, such as this weaver, whom he paid a small fee to pose, among the working poor.
Our artists reproduce this fine art composition in oil on canvas by hand, preserving the tonal range that makes fine art oil painting so sought after for an entryway.
Each canvas is painted entirely by hand with professional oil paints on artist-grade cotton canvas. No printing, giclée, or digital imaging is used at any stage, so the surface keeps the slight relief and color variation of real brushwork.
This fine art oil painting wall decor is equally at home in a residence, a boutique hotel, or a professional office. Its post-impressionist character makes it a safe, distinctive gift for anyone furnishing an entryway.
